About Me:

Michaela Wallis

Growing up, I had two passions: performing and working with individuals with special needs.  After pursing a Diploma in Musical Theatre, I found a wonderful balance working part time as a performer and part time as a support worker with children, teens and adults with a wide range of disabilities.  It was through the combination of these passions that drove me to discover the transformative power of music.  It was this discovery that led me to complete the Bachelor of Music Therapy Degree program at Capilano University in 2015.  Throughout my studies, I was fortunate to have clinical practicum experiences with seniors, special needs children and individuals living with mental health issues. I completed my internship at BC Children's Hospital where I was able to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team with medically fragile children and adolescents.

Upon receiving accreditation as a Music Therapist, I enjoyed an opportunity to work part time through ET Music Therapy with clients in their studio and in clients' homes, as well as in two high schools in the North Vancouver School District. Since 2015, I have run a successful private practice, providing contracted services to other agencies as well as individual, home-based therapy services to children and young adults with high medical needs, Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities. It has been a privilege to offer client and family centred care in the Lower Mainland.
